Q. - How can we get another cable company in Terrell. Other companies have better promotions than Suddenlink.

 

Answer - The City's franchise agreement with Suddenlink expires this year.

 

When the agreement expires, the City will consider all possibilities in a new franchise agreement.

 

The original franchise agreement was not exclusive and does not prohibit other cable companies from doing business in Terrell. However, it would appear to be impractical for another cable company to set up next to an existing cable company, unless they could share the same cable lines.

 

Unfortunately, the cable companies are not structured in the same manner as Electric Utilities and Telephone Companies are where you have a service delivery company and a retail provider.

 

When the discussion of a cable franchise agreement takes place at the council it will be posted on our meeting agendas. We would certainly like to have any citizen input.
