Q. - I just recently
received my City Of Terrell newsletter and enjoyed it thoroughly. BUT,
why can't the minutes of the Council meetings and agendas be included
in
that
newsletter? I think it would be a great way to keep the public well
informed as to what is going on in their city. I realize they could
come to the meetings but many are too busy and/or can't.
Answer - The newsletter is produced only 3 times
each year at a total cost per issue of about $4200.00 for printing
and mailing. We need
to be careful not to add much more content that would make it too expensive.
The agendas and minutes can make for fairly dry reading. Many of the
actions we take are technical and procedural matters and not very interesting
to most people. Perhaps a variation on your idea would work. We will
look into including highlights of the most notable and important Council
actions taken since the last newsletter. We want to make sure we keep
the newsletter informative, fun, and interesting to read.
Just in case you did not know, the Council meetings are broadcast
live on KPYK AM 1570. Council minutes and
agendas are posted on the City Calendar of the city website.
Thanks for your suggestion.
Sincerely,
Hal Richards
Mayor
