Ask The Mayor

Q. - You came to our co-op yesterday
and told us all about the things you do as Mayor. You briefly said something
about volunteer work that someone could do to help at city hall. I am
very interested in helping in any way I can.
The only problem is, I don't live in Terrell, I live
in Forney. So I was wondering if I was still allowed to work for the
city of Terrell, or if I should look into volunteering for the city
of Forney.
Thank you for your time.
Answer - Thank you for your inquiry. Local governments
typically make a limited number of unpaid volunteer slots available.
Sometimes these are Library positions, occasionally other Departments
in a City have opportunities
available.
In order to limit your commute, our Assistant City Manager, Mike Sims,
will reach out to the City of Forney to determine if they have any opportunities
available before pursuing something with the City of Terrell. Please
look forward to a follow up message directly from Mr. Sims. He can be
reached at mikesims@cityofterrell.org.
I believe you will find that local government service is a wonderful
way to make a contribution to your community.
Sincerely,
Hal Richards, Mayor
