Boards & Commissions ~ Policies & Procedures

Airport Board - Advisory 2nd Wednesday of each month 6:00 p.m. (Terrell Municipal Airport)	Contact: Torry Edwards Ph.: 972-551-6604 E-mail: tedwards@cityofterrell.org
Develops recommendations for planning of future airport development / improvements; Develops recommendations for financing and implementation of specific improvements; and Submits recommendations on any rules / regulations and/or ordinances changes pertaining to the control of the general aviation facilities at Municipal Airport. This eight (8) member Board meets the 2nd Wednesday each month. Qualification – members can live both in and out of the City.
Building & Standards Commission - Advisory Meet as needed	Contact: Omaira Renteria Ph.: 972-551-6606 E-mail: orenteria@cityofterrell.org
Holds all hearings regarding substandard buildings; and Makes written findings of fact as to whether or not buildings are dilapidated, substandard, or unfit for human habitation and whether or not the buildings in question are dangerous. This seven (7) member Commission meets on Wednesday as needed.

Civil Service Commission - Statutory Meet as needed City Hall	Contact: Carol Holland Ph.: 972-551-6608 E-mail: cholland@cityofterrell.org
An established Fire Fighter’s and Police Officer’s Civil Service Commission; and Establishes the hiring and classification for all firefighters and police officers. This three (3) member Commission meets as needed.\ Qualifications – members must be a resident of the City.
Library Board - Advisory Quarterly as needed Library (Community Room)	Contact: Becky Sullivan Ph.: 972-551-6663 E-mail: bsull@airmail.net
Make continuous study and review of the library services offered by the Riter C. Hulsey Public Library; and Advise the City Council of the present and future maintenance, operation, planning, acquisition, development, enlargement, and policies of the public library. This nine (9) member Board meets quarterly the 3rd Thursday of the month. Qualification – Seven (7) members must be a resident of the City and two (2) must be residents of the County
Park Board - Advisory Meets Quarterly 6:00 p.m. Park Annex Bldg. at 103 Ninth St.	Contact: Dan Abell Ph.: 972-551-6609 E-mail: dabell@cityofterrell.org
Make recommendations for the improvement and/or expansion of existing parks, as well as acquisition and development of additional parks; Make recommendations for regulations regarding the use of parks; and Make recommendations regarding the annual operation, maintenance, and capital budget for the park system. This seven (7) member Board meets quarterly on the 3rd Wednesday of the month. Qualifications – Members must be a resident of the City.

Recommendations to the City Council – Specific Use Permits, Zone Changes, Platting, etc.; and Makes recommendations for adoption of a master plan, for the future development and redevelopment of the City. This nine (9) member Commission meets on the 4th Monday of each month.
Terrell Economic Development Corp. (TEDC) - Statutory 4th Tuesday of each month 1:15 p.m. City Hall	Contact: Danny Booth Ph.: 972-524-5704 E-mail: danny@terrelltexas.com
Promotes, assists, and enhances economic development activities for the City. This five (5) member Board meets on the 4th Tuesday of each month.

Youth Advisory Council	Contact: Lynnette Nadeau Ph: 972-524-4322 E-mail: lnadeau@cityofterrell.org
The mission of the Youth Advisory Council (YAC) is to advise City Council and City staff on issues affecting youth. The Council will gather youth concerns and help identify possible solutions. The Council will help youth connect to services that benefit them and may sponsor events and activities to provide information on city programs, youth development, higher education, and youth health and employment. YAC is open to youth in grades 9 - 11 (13 years old or older) who would like to use their experience and know-how to improve city government. More information Application (word format) (pdf format)
Zoning Board of Adjustments Meet as needed City Hall	Contact: Lucy York Ph.: 972-551-6606 E-mail: lyork@cityofterrell.org
Hear appeals that allege error in a decision by an administrative official; Hear special exceptions to the terms of the zoning ordinance; and Authorize variances from the terms of the zoning ordinance. This five (5) member with two (2) alternates (Serve when a regular member is absent) Board meets as needed.
