Terrell City Council
The City Council determines policies and procedures for city government. The Council enacts ordinances governing city operations, sets goals and objectives for city services, and adopts the annual budget.
Terrell operates under a home rule charter with a city council/city manager form of government. The five City Council members are elected to 3 year terms to represent the city's five voting districts. The mayor, elected at large, presides over City Council meetings held the first and third Tuesday of the month at 7:00 p.m., Terrell City Hall, 201 East Nash Street.
Residents who have lived within a council district in the City of Terrell for at least 6 months prior to the election date are eligible to run for their district's council seat if they are U. S. citizens and registered Texas voters. (Anyone previously convicted of a felony is disqualified from running for a council seat.)
All Council meetings are accessible to the disabled. For special assistance or interpreters, call 972-551-6619 three days in advance of the meeting.
City Council agendas are posted on the city calendar at City Hall the Friday before each regular meeting. Agendas are also available on request from the City Secretary's office. To request official action by the City Council at a regular meeting, call the City Secretary's office, 972-551-6619, at least 7 days prior to the meeting and ask to be placed on the agenda.
If you are unsure of your voting district, or which City Council member represents you, contact the City Secretary's office at 972-551-6600. The Secretary's office can also help you contact your representative.
