1.0 ANNOUNCEMENTS & PUBLIC HEARINGS

A regular meeting of the City Council was held November 22, 1997 at 7:00 p.m., with the following members present.

1.1 INVOCATION

Mayor Don L. Lindsey called the meeting to order, and Councilmember Tommy Spencer gave the opening prayer.

6.0 NEW BUSINESS

6.1 CONSIDER APPROVAL OF CONTRACT WITH THE TERRELL CHAMBER OF COMMERCE FOR HOTEL/MOTEL TAX

Councilmembers discussed information received form the City Attorney, Mary Gayle Ramsey. Councilmember James Huffman and City Manager Gordon Pierce discussed tabling this item to have City Staff and Terrell Chamber of Commerce work out an agreement to provide for interim funding. James Huffman made a motion calling for a six month proposed temporary contract incorporating his suggestions discussed in Workshop.

David Mallard spoke to Council recommending approval of the Revised Contract pending Contract renegotiations. Motion was seconded by Councilmember Tommy Spencer.

Danny Booth suggesting adoption of existing contract through the 1st quarter of 1998 so the Chamber can plan the Heritage Jubilee. Councilmember James Huffman amended the motion to have Gordon Pierce work out a six month proposal in accordance with the current contract to include the City Secretary will pay all the expenses incurred by the Chamber during that time. Councilmember Tommy Spencer seconded the motion. Ayes - all; Nayes - none. Motion Carried.


10.0 ADJOURNMENT

There were no other matters discussed or acted on at this meeting. There being no further business the meeting was adjourned.
