Public Works maintains city streets, administers the City's solid waste (garbage) contract, and manages parks and recreation. Department responsibilities include:
Public Works oversees the collection and disposal of solid waste in accordance with the agreement between the City of Terrell and the solid waste contractor, Progressive Waste.
Residential refuse is collected at curbside two days a week. See Solid waste collection map to determine your pick up days. (Please be sure your garbage is at the curb by 7 a.m. on collection days and containers removed after pickup.)
Pickup is limited to 15 bags, cans, and/or bundles on each collection day.
There is no garbage service on certain holidays. Refuse will be picked up on the next regularly scheduled collection day. These holidays include:
Bulky items are picked up on the second collection day of each week. Pickup is limited to 2 bulky items at a time. Place bulky items in a neat stack no earlier than the Saturday before your bulky waste collection day. Items placed next to utility poles, mailboxes, trees, or parked cars will NOT be picked up. Do not block sidewalks, driveways, or roadways.
Please Note: items placed on vacant lots or in alleys will NOT be collected.

Terrell Citizens Convenience Station Temporarily Relocated
Due to the recent heavy rains the access bridge at the Citizens Convenience Station (CCS) on County Road 319 is out of service. City of Terrell Citizens will be allowed to temporarily use the Kaufman County Convenience Station located on FM 429. No Tires will be accepted. (see exceptions)
Operating hours will remain the same, which are Wednesdays and Saturdays from 9am to 4pm. There will be signage placed at the entrance gate at the CCS re-directing citizens to the temporary location.
Notice upate: Due to a recurring annual Kaufman County event, the Kaufman County Citizens Convenience Station will be closed to residents that resides inside the City Limits of Terrell on the following days:
Regular household trash, bulky items,and brush are accepted at the Citizens Convenience Station on CR 319 (between FM429N & Hwy 34) from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. on Wednesdays and Saturdays.
Terrell residents, living within the city limits of Terrell, may purchase a permit at:
Kaufman County residents, living outside the city limits

The Terrell Citizens Convenience Station (972) 551-6628) accepts residential trash only. No commercial dumping allowed!

ALL VEHICLES AND TRAILERS MUST BE TARPED! Loose debris falling from load could result in fines.
NO BATTERIES ACCEPTED. Tires may be taken to County
Precinct Barn (limit 4). Appliances (refrigerators, stoves, washers,
etc.) may be taken to Terrell Iron & Metal on S. Delphine St.
Recycling plant drop off center open 24 hours a day. Items collected include ALL types of plastics, all paper and cardboard materials, eye glasses, all types of ink and toner cartridges. Inquire inside about electronics drop-off (free for Environmental Co-op members).
