Public Works maintains city streets, administers the City's solid waste (garbage) contract, and manages parks and recreation. Department responsibilities include:

Solid Waste

Public Works oversees the collection and disposal of solid waste in accordance with the agreement between the City of Terrell and the solid waste contractor, Progressive Waste.
Residential refuse is collected at curbside two days a week. See Solid waste collection map to determine your pick up days. (Please be sure your garbage is at the curb by 7 a.m. on collection days and containers removed after pickup.)
Pickup is limited to 15 bags, cans, and/or bundles on each collection day.
The City of Terrell offers its residents two easy ways to dispose of brush.
- Brush can be hauled free of charge to the Terrell Citizens Convenience
Station located on CR 319 between FM 429N & Hwy 34. The Convenience
Station is open on Wednesdays and Saturdays from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
- Brush is picked up curbside on Thursdays and Fridays depending on
which day your second pick-up day falls on. If your trash days are Monday/Thursday,
then Thursday will be your brush pick up day. If your trash days are
Tuesday/Friday, then Friday will be your brush pick up day. No more
than 5 cubic yards of brush will be picked up each week. See our Brush

There is no garbage service on certain holidays. Refuse will be picked up on the next regularly scheduled collection day. These holidays include:
Bulky items are picked up on the second collection day of each week. Pickup is limited to 2 bulky items at a time. Place bulky items in a neat stack no earlier than the Saturday before your bulky waste collection day. Items placed next to utility poles, mailboxes, trees, or parked cars will NOT be picked up. Do not block sidewalks, driveways, or roadways.
Please Note: items placed on vacant lots or in alleys will NOT be collected.

To reach the station, go one mile north of the Terrell city limits on SH 34. Go east (right) on CR 319 for ¼ mile.
The Terrell Citizens Convenience Station (972) 551-6628) accepts residential trash only. No commercial dumping allowed!
Wood chips available free of charge. You load!
ALL VEHICLES AND TRAILERS MUST BE TARPED! Loose debris falling from load could result in fines.
NO BATTERIES ACCEPTED. Tires may be taken to County
Precinct Barn (limit 4). Appliances (refrigerators, stoves, washers,
etc.) may be taken to Terrell Iron & Metal on S. Delphine St.
Bulky items: A permit is required
to dispose of bulky items. Charges are based on the size of the load.
Request a disposal permit at City Hall during regular office hours.
Permits are valid for 60 days.
NEW RECYCLING DROP-OFF CENTER:
Visit the new Recycling Drop-off Center, located at 1100 Airport Rd.
(from Hwy 34, East .5 mi on Airport Rd.), to recycle aluminum and steel
cans, plastics #1 and #2, and paper and cardboard, magazines, catalogs
and school and office paper. (Delphine and High St. location closed)
Recycling plant drop off center open 24 hours a day. Items collected include ALL types of plastics, all paper and cardboard materials, eye glasses, all types of ink and toner cartridges. Inquire inside about electronics drop-off (free for Environmental Co-op members).

Clean Ups
Free Residential Clean Ups
The City of Terrell sponsors four (4) one-day residential clean up
events each year. During each one-day event citizens can dispose of
residential solid waste at the Terrell Citizens
Convenience Station free of charge from 8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.
No commercial dumping allowed. Proof of residency may be required
in the form of a Texas Driver's License or a current water bill. For
more information, contact the Terrell Citizens Convenience Station

Kaufman County sponsors a free clean up event each May for residents
of Kaufman County. For more information contact your County Precinct
