City Manager

Mike SimsMike Sims started his career in local government inspired by a high school mentoring program, sponsored by the City of Denton City Manager's Office. He later earned a B.A. in Public Affairs from Indiana University and a Master's in Economics from the University of Texas at Arlington. For 15 years, he served in various leadership roles at the North Central Texas Council of Governments, developing innovative partnerships and advising local governments throughout the Metroplex on a wide range of issues.

In 2008, he accepted the role of Assistant City Manager at the City of Terrell in which he has overseen projects ranging from Labor For Your Neighbor community service to multi-million dollar partnerships with the Regional Transportation Council, TxDOT, land developers and new retail, restaurant and hotel builders. In this role, he led the technical analysis and public involvement for the 2017 Downtown Plan, Park Plan and Comprehensive Plan which will guide the City's development efforts for years to come.

In 2019, the City Council named him City Manager.

Mr. Sims and his wife Sarah have been married since 1994 and have been blessed with seven wonderful children. They are active in First Baptist Church of Terrell.
