Why did the city put a no skateboarding sign up at the Ben Gill pavilion?

Q. – Why did the city put a no skateboarding sign up at the Ben Gill pavilion? We aren’t doing any harm to the pavilion, and I just wanted to know why it has been put there.

Answer – Thanks for your inquiry.

The surfaces of the pavilion and the tennis courts were not constructed to stand up to the wear and tear of skating.

Also, there has been skate damage to the picnic tables and railing. This damage prevents other citizens from enjoying the use of those facilities.

The surface on the area where the basketball goals are is suitable for skating and skating is permitted there.

Sincerely,

Hal Richards, Mayor
