Q. -I was walking my dog on North Rockwall at 4 p.m. on Wednesday, February 15. I was shocked at the cars traveling on this street, as many cars were exceeding the speed limit. It was like having a ringside seat at NASCAR.

I witnessed a car that turned left from Pecan and pulled in front of a truck and nearly caused a wreck. This caused the driver of the car to go into road rage mode and speeded excessively to overtake the truck so he could get revenge against the truck driver.

I realized that as a pedestrian, anyone could be killed or injured by any speeding car that could lose control and run onto the sidewalk. There’s not very much space dividing the sidewalk from the street.

I’m bringing this to your attention as this concerns all of the people of Terrell. Thank you for reading my inquiry.

Answer – Thanks for your inquiry. Citizen safety is a priority for our police department and city management and staff. The police department frequently gets traffic complaints from various areas of the city and requests to monitor and take appropriate enforcement action. The police department will dedicate available personnel to this general area during high traffic times.

Sincerely,

D.J. Ory, Mayor
