Once the annexation of the new territory is approved, does that mean then that the ETJ will then be moved farther out?

Q. -Once the annexation of the new territory is approved, does that mean then that the ETJ will then be moved farther out? By the city ordinance, it would have to be moved out an extra mile due to population.

Answer – Thanks for your inquiry.

State law governs both annexations and ETJ distances. Under current law, cities our size have an automatic one mile ETJ outside the City limit unless otherwise interrupted by another city’s limit or ETJ.

Sincerely,

D.J. Ory, Mayor
