Are there plans to extend the ETJ and annex private properties on County Road 353? We haven’t been formally informed of any plans to do so but have heard that there are.

Q. – Are there plans to extend the ETJ and annex private properties on County Road 353? We haven’t been formally informed of any plans to do so but have heard that there are.

Answer – Thanks for your inquiry.

On January 2, 2018, the City of Terrell adopted a Comprehensive Plan that includes a roadway plan for areas outside of the City Limits, but within the Extraterritorial Jurisdiction of the City of Terrell.  The Future Transportation Plan is not an annexation plan and does not impact CR 353.  The purpose of the Future Transportation Plan is to coordinate long-term roadway planning issues between the City and the County.  If you are interested in planning documents approved by the Terrell City Council, you can access all our recently adopted plans at https://www.cityofterrell.org/government/city-documents/ .”

Is there any possible way that all the schools, especially the elementary schools, could get some speed bumps put down leading to the school and in surrounding neighborhoods?

Q. – I wanted to know if there is any possible way that all the school especially the elementary schools could get some speed bumps put down leading to the school and in surrounding neighborhoods. I ask of this because I live on Town North and my kids play outside a lot, and we walk to the park often. During these walks there is always someone flying down Town North and even though I live on a street adjacent to Town North, there are always kids at play and there are always car speeding down our road. My temporary solution to the problem is parking my cars on the street so cars will slow down. Is there anything that can be done. I would take “children at play” sign if it’s cheaper.

Answer – Thanks for your inquiry.

Public safety is extremely important to the police department and city management. Please know that within the past 24 months a speed zone study was performed on Town North. This message will be shared with our police department and speed enforcement will be enhanced in this area. Currently, city insurance policy restrictions do not provide for installation of speed bumps.

Sincerely,

D.J. Ory, Mayor
