Q. – Forney Mayor Rick Wilson has filed a class action lawsuit on behalf of property owners against Kaufman County Appraisal District Chief Appraiser, Sarah Curtis asking a judge for a declaratory judgment and injunctive relief for taxpayers. I would ask that you do the same in the best interest of the voters of Terrell. I did copy this from below as it was well worded and is my initial question. As I understand it, in the 2020 tax year this will cause undue financial burden to everyone. What are your feelings of what is being done in your town to you and your constituents by Kaufman county, and what you are willing to do about it.?

Answer – Thanks for your inquiry.  The lawsuit of reference is: “Rick Wilson, individually and as class representative of Property Owners in Kaufman County, Texas” vs. Sarah Curtis, in her capacity as chief appraiser of the Kaufman County Appraisal District.” It was filed on May 1 in the Kaufman County District County Court at Law 2. Our city attorney is reviewing the matter. We have no additional comments at this time.

Sincerely,

D. J. Ory, Mayor
