I was born and raised in Terrell and graduated from Terrell High in 1983. Not long after graduation, I joined the Terrell Volunteer Fire Department in 1987 and discovered my passion for the fire service. A year later in 1988, I was hired by the University Park Fire Department where I spent the next thirty-one years. While at University Park, I served as a Firefighter/Paramedic, second Driver/Engineer, Captain, Battalion Chief, and Assistant Fire Chief before retiring in 2018 to pursue my current position here as the Terrell Fire Chief.
My academic accomplishments include an Associate of Applied Fire Science degree from Trinity Valley Community College and a Bachelor's degree from West Texas A & M in Emergency Management Administration. I have also attained numerous certifications throughout my fire service career from the Texas Commission on Fire Protection and the Texas Department of State Health Services. These certifications include Master Structural Fire Fighter; Master Fire inspector; Intermediate Fire instructor; Hazardous Material Incident Commander; Hazardous Material Technician, Fire Officer II; Incident Safety Officer; Head of Department Suppression; Licensed Paramedic; as well as being a graduate of the Texas Fire Chief’s Academy.
